The Cinema 4D interface is complex but not overwhelming for digital content creation software. Reviewing "What's New in S26/2023" videos from Rocket Lasso on YouTube helps fill in the gaps. I suggest browsing the Maxon Training Team YouTube channel (in particular the "R25 Beginners Workshop") or searching for "Getting Started in Cinema 4D R25." Neither of these videos covers the 2023 release or even S26, but most R25 content is applicable. Given the twice-yearly cadence of releases, often recommended tutorials are soon out of date, so it can be hard to find recent beginner series. It has lists of recent files and templates, which is nice, but I'd like to see prominent links to recent beginner tutorials for getting started as a new user instead of the existing carousel of the so-called Cineversity Tutorials. When you first launch Cinema 4D, it launches a Quick Start Dialog that is frankly not supremely useful. The Houdini Launcher and Unity Hub are better examples of tools to manage and launch multiple software versions. Also, if you want to have multiple versions of Cinema 4D installed, you must manually download and install them independently from the Maxon App, which defeats the purpose of a software hub, in my opinion. It would be nice if this app also acted as a launcher, but it doesn't appear to. Installation and software updates come through the Maxon App, which is a barebones app for managing licenses and software from the company. Maxed-out, high-end, current-generation products will not go to waste in powering your digital creation tools. However, as with most professional 3D software, the bigger the numbers on your hardware, the happier Cinema 4D will be. It can run on most CPUs and GPUs made in the last decade combined with at least 8GB of RAM. Like most professional 3D software, Cinema 4D is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Note that most of these competing products, Blender excluded, have a variety of pricing options as well. 3ds Max and Maya charge $290 per year for their Indie licenses. Houdini's Indie subscription is $269 per year. The software pricing isn't beyond reason, but I'd love to see an "indie" subscription tier at a reduced price for hobbyists and freelancers whose annual income is below a threshold. And for evaluation purposes, Maxon provides a 14-day free trial (half of what I'd expect) of all the Maxon One products. Students and teachers can access Maxon One for six months for only $9.99, with verification of educational status. The CPU version of Redshift is included with Cinema 4D itself, but more on that later. Indeed, ZBrush remains the de facto standard for digital sculpting. This review focuses on Cinema 4D specifically, but ZBrush and Redshift are both excellent tools for sculpting and rendering, respectively. It includes the full versions of both ZBrush and Redshift, a number of powerful plug-ins for Adobe After Effects, and various video editing software. The Maxon One bundle ($149 per month or $1,199 per year) is the best value for licensing Cinema 4D. We don't recommend that, however, because you don't get updates, which Maxon releases twice per year at least. If you prefer a perpetual license rather than a subscription, you can buy Cinema 4D R25 (two versions old) for $3,495 at the time of writing. On its own, Cinema 4D costs $94 per month or $719 per year. You can license Cinema 4D in a number of ways. As it stands, we recommend it most for anyone working in motion graphics specifically. If not for the relatively high price tag, it would be our recommended 3D modeling software to most beginners. While certain areas of Cinema 4D like BodyPaint and Thinking Particles have felt stagnant, the software as a whole does not, and Cinema 4D still embraces the joy of creation. Cinema 4D is spending its efforts wisely-adding more proceduralism, quicker iteration, and dynamic remeshing. The two releases this year, S, provide significant improvements in a number of key areas, which seems to be part of a larger-scale reworking of the software as a whole. Best Hosted Endpoint Protection and Security SoftwareĬinema 4D is a fun, artist-friendly 3D modeling software package that excels at rapid iteration for motion graphics in particular. It comes with more options including converting degrees, minutes, and seconds to degrees, combining maps, re-download failed images, setting the default path, and configuring proxy settings. Universal Maps Downloader Full allows you to view the data about the total number of downloaded images once you have initiated the downloading process, log file, and much more. You should be careful while naming tasks, because the tool automatically overwrites files with the same name so must change the name while downloading the file. The program also provides a demo version but doesn’t allow you to download high-quality images. Also, the application completes the task in a short period without any errors. The application uses a very low amount of system resources and includes a comprehensive guide with snapshots that would help new users to use the app. You can also zoom in on the level of the map, and input the left, right, top, and bottom latitudes as well as the output destination of the maps. Furthermore, you can select the map type from this software which includes Google Street, Satellite or Terrain maps, Yahoo Street or Satellite maps, Microsoft Virtual Earth Street, and Satellite or Hybrid maps. The user interface of this application is very simple and one can easily operate it as it comes with a standard window that is easy to navigate. It is an application that one can use to download maps from Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft. Universal Maps Downloader says itself about the purpose of this software. Universal Maps Downloader Latest 2023 Update Universal Maps Downloader Keygen allows you to view the data about the total number of downloaded images once you have initiated the downloading process, log file, and much more. Minimal preferences – Preferences are only added when they make sense and after careful consideration. Human interface – Epiphany follows the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines. Software freedom – Epiphany will always be released under a license that respects freedom. Standards compliance – No non-standard features will ever be introduced to the codebase. Simplicity – Feature bloat and user interface clutter are considered evil. Epiphany development follows strict adherence to the following guidelines: Couple that rendering engine with the fact that Epiphany has very little in terms of bloat to get in the way, you will enjoy very fast page-rendering speeds. If you choose to install via the standard package manager, issue a command such as sudo apt-get install epiphany-browser -y for successful installation.Įpiphany uses the WebKit rendering engine, which is the same engine used in Apple’s Safari browser. (Note, however, that the recommended installation of Epiphany is via Flatpak or Snap). GNOME Web (codename Epiphany, which means “a usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something” ) is the default web browser for Elementary OS, but it can be installed from the standard repositories. I’ll be demonstrating these browsers on the Elementary OS platform, but each of these browsers are available to nearly every distribution in the known Linuxverse. Let’s take a look at five of the minimal browsers that can be installed on Linux. Regardless of the reason, Linux has you covered. Still others might be running low-powered machines that cannot handle the requirements of, say, Firefox or Chrome. For some, it’s about browser security, while others look at a web browser as a single-function tool (as opposed to a one-stop shop application). In fact, there are many reasons why you might prefer a minimal browser over a standard browser. There are those, however, who prefer using a web browser without all the frills. For some, these feature-rich browsers are perfect for everyday needs. Those options are full-fledged browsers with every possible bell and whistle you’ll ever need. You can use anything from open source favorites, such as Firefox and Chromium, or closed sourced industry darlings like Vivaldi and Chrome. From how you interact with the operating system (via a desktop interface), to how daemons run, to what tools you use, you have a multitude of options. One reason I often state up front is the almost unlimited number of choices to be found at almost every conceivable level. There are so many reasons to enjoy the Linux desktop. Wine is still not by default, something that should be changed, etc. The video and music player are separate programs that could be joined with VLC, a player that many use. For example, currently Ubuntu comes with two web browsers. I personally believe that some applications that Ubuntu brings with it are outdated or not useful for users. And although there are still several weeks until the survey opens, Dustin Kirkland has already created a survey through Google forms that we can use to express our opinion. In each category you can indicate several applications. The same happens with the rest of the categories that have been requested. In which case it will bring quite a controversy because it will abandon certain applications that many other users use daily. It can result in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird, but Chromium and the Gmail app can also come out, or Qupzilla and Claws Mail, etc. It asks for the web browser and the email application. The list of applications that is requested is very complete, varied and can generate controversy. Ubuntu 18.04 could have Chromium instead of Mozilla Firefox A version that will continue to surprise many despite already having Gnome on Ubuntu 17.10. These applications will be installed or changed for the next LTS version, that is, for Ubuntu 18.04. Thus, they have created a survey for users to communicate which applications to use to open or perform certain tasks. Apparently Ubuntu not only wants to change desktop but also will change the applications that the distribution has by default. Something that many users are liking and others who suffer these changes are not. Jack McKinney’s RT novelizations readded the names the characters had in Macross. Mospeada never assigns a surname to Rey, the character who became Rand. Stick Bernard’s first name was simply changed to Scott, and his lover Marlene Rush’s name was not even changed. Annie’s original name was Mint Rubble, which in the dialogue sounds kind of like “Mint LaBlue”, so I suspect Annie’s RT surname of “LaBelle” is a corruption of that. Harmony Gold didn’t change many of the character surnames when they made Robotech, and in a few cases included in-jokes about the original names of the characters…Įxamples of this include Lancer, whose original name was Yellow Belmont, and whose star persona was known simply as “Yellow”. MAJOR KORGO KORGAR, “The Last of the Lancers” 32 AFC The following are just a few other Zentradi Names from Macross, so for examples of more. Vrlitwhai (Breeti) Kridanik (Vrlitwhai 7018) So in names like “Loli”, it could be translated as “Loli”, “Roli”, “Rori”, “Lori”, but “Roli” and “Loli” are the most common. Also note that in Japanese, “L” and “R” are interchangable. Please Note: The following is for Macross Continuity, not the RT universe. Well, Kaiba’s asleep (what with him on the other side of the world and all), so i’ll be happy to answer! I also think Exedore’s Macross surname, Formo, has shown up, possibly in the Comico version of “The Messenger.” I don’t think any of the other prominent Zentraedi (Khyron, Azonia, Grel, Rico, Bron, Konda, Dolza) were ever given last names (although Khyron was Qamjin Kravshera, or something like that in Macross). I think I remember the Eternity Malcontent Uprisings series giving the name as “Tul,” while the original Macross gave his last name as Kridanik, and I think that’s made appearances somewhere in Robotech material. I think Breetai has been given at least one last name in secondary continuity. I think the only Zentraedi given a last name in the series was Miriya (Parina or Parino, not Sterling). Perhaps more interesting (at least to me) is the issue of Zentraedi last names. I don’t remember Annie’s name being mentioned anywhere, but this site lists it as “LaBelle.” Anyone else know of possible last names for him? I can’t remember if it was in the RPG materials or the Jack McKinney books, but I think it was once given as O’Keefe. In that particular example, I don’t think Rand’s last name is ever specified in the show or the Comico adaptations. The new Rand Masterpiece Collection image got me thinking about the characters whose last names aren’t very well known (or may not exist at all). Since that time, Yu estimates the company has raised about $6.3 million in funding. Variable claims that color accuracy is better than the human eye and far superior than a camera. Launched with an app and Bluetooth accessible, Color Muse can create, save and even share project palettes via email or social networks. But, he said, what motivates him more than sales is for people to use Color Muse.Īccording to Variable, Color Muse can find precise color-matched products, including paint, textile, carpet, tile, apparel, accessories and others. Yu said company sales were about $3 million last year and he believes Variable will do "significantly more than that" in 2018. Yu said the company stripped out everything it could from the Node to get the price down and to focus on color scanning. Selling for about $59 each, Color Muse uses technology Variable had earlier developed in a product called the Node, Yu said. "I was not walking away without the beginnings of a deal," he said. The first Sherwin-Williams order for Color Muse was for 18,000 units. Eventually, Variable landed a meeting with a Sherwin-Williams' corporate buyer around the holidays last year, Yu said. It was a BDC employee who took the Color Muse device to the Sherwin-Williams store at nearby Cherokee Boulevard to show it to a manager. "We were packed in the BDC trying to produce this product," he said. "I'm glad we added color to the doors," McGauley said. He quipped that all the doors in the production facility are painted a different color. Matt McGauley, Fidelity's CEO, said he bought the building and revamped it to suit Variable's needs. Variable, which now has 45 employees, is ramping up production at a 7,500-square-foot facility off Amnicola Highway leased from Fidelity Trust Co. "I want everyone using this product," he said about the hand-held devise aimed at everyday consumers.Ībout the size of a 35 mm film cartridge, Color Muse lets users scan the color of an object and find matches to specific products in everything from paint to fashion to furniture to makeup, Yu said. Variable expects to have its Color Muse color scanning device in all of Sherwin-Williams' 4,200 stores in the United States and Canada this year, Yu said.
